From television screens to the opera stage, Paola Elorza’s journey is a captivating blend of communication, artistry, and dedication to the Hispanic community.
A Journey Between Stage and Screen
Paola Elorza is a distinguished communicator and accomplished soprano whose career has seamlessly merged a commitment to public service with the timeless beauty of classical music.
For years, she informed and inspired the Hispanic community in the United States as a respected television personality.
Today, she continues to captivate audiences through powerful operatic performances that blend elegance, emotion, and artistic excellence.
Early Life & Education
Born in Santiago, Chile, Paola grew up in a home where music was a way of life. From an early age, she displayed a natural gift for melody and expression, nurtured by her mother, Maestra Ruth Godoy, one of Chile’s most respected music educators and choir directors.
Ruth’s pioneering career in choral music earned her multiple recognitions, including a 2020 nomination for Chile’s National Music Arts Award (Premio Nacional de Artes Musicales) and tributes at international choral festivals such as the Mario Baeza International Choir Festival.
Under her guidance, music became as essential to Paola as breathing.
Paola began studying flute, piano, and voice at a young age, developing discipline while preserving the joy of artistic expression. By the time most children were still exploring their interests, she was already performing in choirs directed by her mother, immersing herself in the classical repertoire and refining her interpretation.
Her dedication later led to formal studies at the Escuela Moderna de Música, advanced piano with Liliana Colzani, and vocal performance at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile under Maestra Mary Ann Fone. These formative years laid the foundation for the expressive soprano voice that would later captivate audiences on stage.

A Distinguished Career in Television and Communication
Paola’s path took an extraordinary turn when her scientific studies in meteorology opened the door to a career in television. After working as a forecaster for Chile’s National Weather Service, she transitioned to broadcast media, becoming a trusted on-air weather presenter in Chile before moving to the United States to work for The Weather Channel.
In 2000, she joined Univision in Miami, where she quickly became a familiar and respected face in Hispanic households across the country.
Beyond weather, she was deeply committed to serving the Hispanic community — covering environmental stories that connected science, climate, and everyday life, raising awareness with schools and community initiatives, which led Paola to be recognized and awarded several times due to her commitment.
Opera & Performing Arts
Despite the demands of her long career in television, Paola’s first love — music — never faded. In 2019, she made her return to the stage, embracing her soprano voice with renewed passion and dedication performing with the Miami Lyric Opera.
Under the guidance of its founder, Maestro Raffael Cardone, Paola keeps refining her technique under his guidance, bringing new emotional depth to her performances such as Gianetta in Elissir d'Amore, Dolcina in Suor Angelica along with the MLO.
Today, Paola continues to grace the Miami stage with performances with Fine Arts of Miami, to celebrate the rich tradition of opera and its power to connect people across cultures and generations. For her, every note is an opportunity to honor her artistic roots, share her voice with the world, and remind audiences of the transformative beauty of live performance.
